Helv City was the capital of the 24th generation of kings and kings Helv of Wu. Helv is a hero in the late Spring and Autumn Period. In 515 BC, he instructed the warrior Zhu Zhu to assassinate his cousin Wu Wanglio with a fish-gut sword and ascend to the throne. He recruited talents, valued the people's livelihood, was strict in self-discipline, and made great efforts to govern the country. Wu quickly rose up. He also adopted Wu Zixu's suggestion of "build a city, set up defenses, build warehouses, and manage the Hyogo", and appointed Wu Zixu to build Helu City. After the King of Wu moved his capital, "Ches marched to Yulu, the Western Expedition to Bashu, and the North forced Qi Jin to order China" ("Lu Shichunqiu"), the territory expanded twenty times, and a generation of hegemony was achieved. Helv City is located at the western end of the Eighteen Bays of Taihu Lake, at the junction of Wuxi and Wujin (Changzhou) at the mouth of the Lujiang River. It was built between 515 BC and 496 BC in the late Spring and Autumn Period, more than 2500 years ago. It was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province in 1956, and was listed in the "Top Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China" in 2008. With the changes of history and the passage of time, the city of Helv has been destroyed, but the east and west towers are well-defined, and the ruined walls still stand tall.
Helv City is composed of two parts: a big city and a small city. The big city is about 2,100 meters from east to west, about 1,400 meters wide from north to south, and covers an area of 2.94 square kilometers. The city wall of Dacheng has disappeared. Drilling found that the base of the wall made of light yellow clay with a width of about 34 meters in the southwest corner of Helu City. The environment outside the city still exists, but it has been dredged and widened and it is no longer the original appearance. The small town is located in the northwest part of the big city. It is about 1,300 meters long from east to west, 500 meters wide from north to south, and has an area of 0.65 square kilometers. There is a wall in the small city that divides it into two small cities in the east and the west, the west is big and the east is small. Xicheng is about 680 meters long from east to west and 340 meters wide from north to south. It is divided into two areas: north and south. Dongcheng is about 350 meters long from east to west and 340 meters wide from north to south. It is slightly square. There are some relics left in the small city. The roughly identifiable wall is more than 1,200 meters long. The base of the wall is about 15-20 meters wide and the residual height ranges from 2 meters to 3 meters. But there is a "Zhihu Port" about 40 meters wide; there are 6-10 meters wide protective trenches outside the city wall, which have been blocked, but the traces of the gray line snakes are vaguely visible. There are 4 large-scale architectural sites in the southern area of Xicheng, all of which are facing west and east. One of them is a super-large building about 70 meters long and 35 meters wide. There is only one well in the east area. There is a land gate between the east and west cities, and there is a section of road about 10 meters long; there is a land gate between the north and south sections of the west city, and there are two water gates on the south wall, with two rows of wooden piles remaining.
Opening Hours:From 9:00 to 17:00 (Admission closes at 16:00.). The park is closed on Monday.
